CoServ Electric, a not-for-profit cooperative headquartered in Corinth, Texas, provides electric service to more than 120,000 member-owners across six counties in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. We introduced power to these formerly rural areas in 1938. And now we’re the second-largest electric cooperative in the Lone Star state.
Unlike investor-owned utilities, CoServ Electric is owned by the people we serve. Members, as we call them, enjoy electricity priced as close to cost as possible. They also receive money back in the form of Capital Credits (our version of dividends) and may vote for our board of directors and attend the annual meeting.
In 1998, CoServ Gas began offering clean, safe natural gas to three North Texas counties. As an affiliate of CoServ Electric, the gas company serves more than 60,000 customers.
We acquired Llano Utility Services, Inc., in 1999 for their underground construction resources. Llano supports CoServ’s high growth and resulting expansion of our electric and gas systems.
