CoServ Gas and E3—Ready for Rain, Sleet, Snow, or Hail

01-27-2012

CoServ Gas believes in the value of service to our Customers. To that end, the organization’s Employees work year-round to ensure the reliability of the CoServ Gas system so you don’t have to wonder about your natural gas service holding up through the coldest months of winter.

During last February’s winter storms, our system was prepped and ready for the inclement weather, but up-line supply became scarce, resulting in low pressure in parts of the CoServ Gas service area. When the system stabilized, CoServ Gas Employees were standing by to help restore service as quickly as possible, and to help minimize inconvenience and disruption to our Customers.

In the following months, CoServ Gas leaders recognized an opportunity to bolster our emergency response and customer service capabilities by augmenting our ability to serve Customers in the aftermath of storms or other natural gas anomalies. As a result, our Emergency Employee Exchange (E3) program was born.

The E3 program is made up of 68 CoServ Electric Employees who volunteered to cross-train and learn the ins and outs of gas system pressure monitoring and service restoration in the event North Texas experiences similar gas supply and pressure challenges in the future.

E3 Employees have engaged in intensive training with our CoServ Gas Employees to ensure they are well educated and fully qualified to restore gas service. Each of these Employees will also participate in annual recurrent training courses to ensure they remain completely qualified. Additionally, like CoServ Gas Employees who enter Customers’ homes to relight pilot lights, E3 Employees who are trained in service restoration have been subjected to stringent 20-year background checks.

Naturally, we hope that we don’t experience a large-scale natural gas supply disruption in the future, but if we do, you can rest assured that our CoServ Gas Employees and volunteer E3 forces are poised to act and restore your service quickly and with the level of customer service you’ve come to expect from CoServ Gas.
