Golfers Score One for Charity
Amid rolling fairways and manicured greens, the still morning air was routinely punctuated by the unmistakable clink of a golf ball being hit flush with a driver.
During the 7th Annual CoServ Charitable Foundation (CCF) Golf Tournament, 104 golfers playing in a scramble format drove, chipped and putted their way into the ranks of those whose donations to the CCF have allowed it to flourish the past seven years.

The winning foursome consisted of Paul Mitchell, Ken Keefe, Greg Ward, and Ben Crawford, representing the Okonite Company. Closely following in second were Robert Cudd, Tom Chapman, Jimmy Sebastian, and George Belcher, representing Jeter 3 R.C. Inc. Dan Zeller, Craig Williams, Kevin Dean, and Jeff Thull, representing Stanley Ford in Pilot Point, rounded out third place with their score.
Also noted was Craig Williams for the longest drive and Jimmy Sebastian for closest shot to the pin.
The tournament raised $30,054.28 for the CCF.
“Thanks to the generosity of all our sponsors, this [amount] is the most we’ve ever raised from the golf tournament,” said Dennis Engelke, Executive Director of the CCF.
The proceeds will go into the CCF coffers, which is then redistributed to help support social service agencies, not-for profit organizations and civic-based entities.
The CCF is supported by CoServ Electric, and most of the funding for the foundation is made possible by donations from CoServ Electric Members and CoServ Gas Customers who donate to Operation Roundup® by rounding up their bills to the nearest dollar. 100 percent of the extra pennies are used to directly support social, charitable, and civic programs in the CoServ service area. Other sources of funding include employee contributions and fundraising events, such as the golf tournament.
