Residential Solar Rate

Solar energy Block Charge. Members may choose one of the following blocks of solar energy to offset their monthly electricity consumption during a billing period.

Customer Charge $30.00 per meter
The $30 customer charge recovers fixed costs to serve each meter regardless of energy usage. Included in these fixed costs are an allocation of single phase distribution line infrastructure, the cost of a base transformer and service and billing, meter reading and other related costs associated with the provision of electric service. Paying these fixed costs in the $30 customer charge results in these costs being removed from the kWh charge which decreases the kWh rate for usage.

Solar Block       Block Charge
  200 kWh       $25.00
  400 kWh       $50.00
  600 kWh       $75.00
  800 kWh       $100.00
Energy charge is for usage in excess of purchased block.
Energy Charge (November–April)   Energy Charge (November–April)

Base rate per kWh   $0.10622   Base rate per kWh   $0.10622
MINUS the PCRF $0.036   MINUS the PCRF $0.035
    = $0.07022 per kWh     = $0.07122 per kWh

For details, see Section 202.18 of the Tariff. You can enroll in the program on a month-to-month basis with no minimum term, no sign-up charge, and no cancellation fee. By enrolling, you’ll be choosing to:

  • reduce our dependence on non-renewable energy sources like natural gas and coal
  • promote an environmentally-healthy world through the use of a clean resource
  • drive further expansion of solar energy and other renewable sources
  • decrease greenhouse gas emissions

A Power Cost Recovery Factor (PCRF) allows CoServ to adjust for changes in wholesale fuel costs. Because wholesale costs can fluctuate from month to month, CoServ uses the PCRF to more accurately calculate your bill. When our wholesale power costs go up, the PCRF increases, and vice versa. If the PCRF is a negative (as it has been since May 2009), we subtract it from the base rate to calculate your bill.

2Customers who choose to receive electric service pursuant to this rate schedule will not have electricity from a specific renewable resource delivered directly to their electric service location. To unsubscribe to the program, e-mail us at contact@coserv.com.
