CORINTH, TEXAS – March 12, 2020 – In response to health concerns prompted by COVID-19 (the coronavirus), CoServ today announced several measures designed to protect the health of Employees that, in turn, will allow the electric cooperative and natural gas utility to continue serving Members and Customers.

“We provide critical infrastructure services, and we cannot close for business,” said President/CEO Donnie Clary. “We want to take every precaution we can to ensure that Employees are not exposed to—or expose others to—COVID-19.”

Effective immediately and lasting through April 15:

  • All company travel is cancelled. This includes previously booked local, state and national conferences, flights and travel by automobile.

  • Employees are encouraged to not attend events where large groups of people are present.

  • All company meetings, Employee events and activities where 10 or more people gather are cancelled. Employees are encouraged to communicate by other means, including email, conference calls and Skype.

  • All travel restrictions and guidelines listed by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) will be followed—including a 14-day quarantine for any Employees traveling to areas designated by the CDC as high risk for COVID-19.

On-site energy assessments have been suspended, and Members are encouraged to contact our energy advisors for an over-the-phone assessment. In addition, CoServ Members and Customers are encouraged to pay their utility bills through their online SmartHub account or the MoneyGram location nearest their home.

“These steps are designed to reduce exposure to the coronavirus at our facilities—both to our Employees and members of the public,” Mr. Clary said. “We want to assure our ability to continue providing critical, life-impacting electric and natural gas service.”
