Fallen CoServ lineman honored

CoServ presented the Roman Juarez Memorial Scholarship to Sanger High School senior Presley Brockett, who was also the Class of 2021 salutatorian.

The scholarship honors Roman Juarez, a CoServ Electric Lineman who was responding to a power outage when his truck was struck by a drunk driver on May 13, 2007. Roman was a devoted linemen who worked for CoServ for 20 years before losing his life in the line of duty. He was just four days shy of his 42nd birthday.

CoServ and Roman’s family keep his memory alive with the annual Roman Juarez Memorial Scholarship, which goes to a Sanger High School graduate each year. CoServ Director of Operations Shea Hassell, who has represented the operations department at almost every scholarship presentation, was on hand with Roman’s family to recognize Presley.

Presley plans to attend the University of Arkansas where she will study biology. She plans to attend medical school in the future.

A substation in Frisco has been named in Roman’s honor, maintaining his devotion to CoServ’s mission of delivering safe and reliable energy to Members.
