CoServ celebrated Sanger High School’s Class of 2023 by awarding scholarships and a VIP experience to a Frisco RoughRiders game.

The annual award ceremony showcases the accomplishments of Sanger seniors and is another example of CoServ’s commitment to investing in tomorrow.

The Roman Juarez Memorial Scholarship was awarded to Jake Wellman, who finished in the top 10 percent of his class. The scholarship is given annually to a SHS graduate in honor of Roman Juarez, a CoServ linemen crew supervisor.

Shea Hassell, CoServ’s Vice President of Field Operations, presented the scholarship to Jake, who will study astrophysics at Pennsylvania State University.

Roman was tragically killed by a drunk driver while responding to a power outage on May 17, 2007. He was a 20-year veteran of CoServ and many Employees, including Shea, considered Roman a friend as well as a co-worker. His memory lives on through this scholarship, which has been awarded since 2009.

The Sanger ISD Education Foundation awarded a scholarship to Chandler Bowland that was funded by the CoServ Charitable Foundation. Chandler plans to attend Texas A&M where he will pursue a business degree with a focus on agribusinesses.

Sanger High School senior Chase Werminont had perfect attendance from kindergarten through 12th grade, a monumental feat, especially through the COVID-19 pandemic. Chase plans to attend Ranger College, where he will play baseball and pursue a degree in business finance.

Because he’s a baseball player and fan, CoServ awarded Chase a V.I.P. experience to a Frisco RoughRiders game, which includes four free tickets at the CoServ table behind home plate and access to the all-inclusive Founders Club.

CoServ Board District 1 Director Richard Muir and Senior Vice President Field Operations Shea Hassell and CCF and Outreach Coordinator Jennifer Ebert awarded Sanger High School graduate Chase Wernimont a VIP experience at the Frisco RoughRiders.
