That&#8217;s why it&#8217;s called the invisible killer.<\/p>\n<p>CoServ wants everyone to stay safe by following a few simple rules and guidelines.<\/p>\n<p>Carbon monoxide is a byproduct of incomplete combustion by means of a fuel, such as the burning of natural gas. Among other common household appliances, carbon monoxide is produced by gas furnaces, gas clothes dryers, gas water heaters, space heaters, fireplaces, cars, and most other gasoline-powered combustion engines.<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s the good news: If your home appliances are properly vented, installed, and maintained with no air pressure fluctuations or airway blockages, carbon monoxide will most likely be vented to the outside. However, you already know carbon monoxide is colorless, odorless, and tasteless.<\/p>\n<h2>\n\t\t\tWhat to know to stay safe:\t<\/h2>\n\t<h3><a href=\"#\">Symptoms of Carbon monoxide poisoning<\/a><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Headaches<\/li>\n<li>Dizziness<\/li>\n<li>Nausea<\/li>\n<li>Vomiting<\/li>\n<li>Fatigue<\/li>\n<li>Shortness of breath<\/li>\n<li>Mental confusion<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><a href=\"#\">What to do if you suspect a carbon monoxide leak<\/a><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Turn off and stop using the suspected appliance.<\/li>\n<li>Leave the house and walk to a neighbor&#8217;s.<\/li>\n<li>Go to the hospital or <a href=\"tel:911\">call 911<\/a> if anyone in your home experiences the symptoms above.<\/li>\n<li>Contact CoServ Gas at <a href=\"tel:1-844-330-0763\">844-330-0763<\/a>. We answer emergency calls 24 hours a day, seven days a week.<\/li>\n<li>Don&#8217;t use the suspected gas appliance until it has been inspected, serviced and determined to be safe by\u00a0a licensed contractor.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><a href=\"#\">Tips to keep your home free from carbon monoxide<\/a><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Install carbon monoxide alarms.\u00a0<\/strong>They offer an extra level of safety if routinely maintained\u00a0and replaced every three to five years. Even with alarms in place, however, gas appliances should be inspected and maintained regularly.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Replace carbon monoxide alarm batteries every year<\/strong>. The\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.usfa.fema.gov\/prevention\/technology\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">U.S. Fire Administration<\/a>\u00a0recommends replacing smoke detector batteries annually. Please remember to replace your carbon monoxide alarm batteries at the same time.\u00a0Perform these\u00a0functions when Daylight Saving Time commences\u00a0in the fall each year on the first Sunday in November.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Turn off your automobile immediately after entering your garage.<\/strong>\u00a0According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, 140 people die each year from unintentional exposure to carbon monoxide associated with consumer products (such as your car).<\/li>\n<li><strong>Schedule a qualified professional to annually inspect your home<\/strong>\u00a0heating equipment and natural gas equipment.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Never heat your home with your oven, range or outdoor barbecue.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Avoid lint build-up<\/strong>\u00a0in your furnace floor, and clean inside the burner compartment of built-in vented wall furnaces once a month.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Never place rugs, furniture or other items over the furnace grill.<\/strong>\u00a0This may block the airflow.
