DASHA ALSTON will never forget the day CoServ visited Liberty High School during her lunch period. A member of CoServ’s Academic Initiatives team stood on the stage describing the student who would be receiving CoServ’s $5,000 scholarship.

“I was so surprised when they announced that the student they were talking about was me,” she said.“It was such a special moment, and I was glad I got to celebrate with the CoServ team.”

CoServ caught up with Dasha during her freshman year at Texas A&M University where she’s studying chemistry, biology and psychology. While the workload is difficult, she said she’s “excelling” in her studies.

“This scholarship has been a huge help in my first year of college,” she said. “Receiving this scholarship has motivated me to work even harder to reach all my academic and career goals.”

Fellow 2024 graduate Daryl Moss took his scholarship to Abilene Christian University where he’s studying business. He described the surprise of receiving the scholarship as an out-of-body experience.

“People supporting me makes me want to always go the extra mile in everything I do,” Daryl said. “Whether it’s at the gym, in my schoolwork, or just helping people in general, I remember the same kindness and belief that CoServ showed me and I reflect that in my daily life.”

“I would encourage every high school senior to apply for this scholarship because CoServ provides incredible opportunities for students,” Dasha said. “Be yourself and let your personality show in your application. University is expensive, but this scholarship and the CoServ community helped me a lot!”
