The North Texas area keeps growing fast with new residential and commercial construction and CoServ continues to ride that wave while providing reliable, safe energy solutions.

This week, CoServ set its 300,000th electric meter!

It’s a monumental achievement and further establishes us as the third-largest electric cooperative in the country. Of the 300,000 electric meters we serve, more than 92 percent are residential.

To get an idea of how fast our service area is growing, CoServ’s predecessor, Denton County Electric Cooperative, started in 1937 and had about 1,000 meters within the first year.

It wasn’t until June 2004, 63 years later, that CoServ set its 100,000th meter. It would take 12 years to reach 200,000 meters in May 2016. Just seven years later, CoServ is proud to now serve 300,000 meters.

CoServ Gas continues to grow rapidly as well, now serving more than 156,000 meters.

Altogether, CoServ serves more than 456,000 combined meters and is anticipating the day it will reach the half-million-meter mark.

Dallas-Fort Worth continues to be one of the top relocation destinations in the United States and that is certainly reflected in the housing developments that require service from CoServ electric, natural gas or both.

On behalf of all 500-plus CoServ Employees, we appreciate the Members, developers, home builders and businesses that attract people to the region and give them a place to work.
