How CoServ Delivers Top Service
Jo Ann Ream vividly remembers the fierce thunderstorm that rolled through North Texas on Oct. 24, 2025.
“It was pouring down so hard,” said Jo Ann, a Justin resident and CoServ Member for 42 years. “There was thunder and lightning that went on all night long.”
One lightning strike damaged a pair of lightning arresters a few miles from her home, causing a power outage. Lightning arresters direct high voltage to the ground, diverting lightning away from vital infrastructure. In this instance, the arresters did their job, protecting equipment on the lines, but it did cause the power to go out.
Jo Ann’s dogs woke her up in the middle of the night and she realized she didn’t have power.
“So, I thought, ‘I’ll call CoServ.’ I picked up my phone, and I saw that I had a text message saying, ‘We’re aware of an outage on your road and a team has been sent to resolve it,’ I was immediately relieved because I knew they would take care of it.”
While she went back to sleep, CoServ linemen Santiago Estrada, Jesse Medina, Mitchell Parra, and Dillon Hodge showed up in the pouring rain to repair the damage and restore power to affected Members as safely and quickly as possible. Jesse credits CoServ’s System Operators for pinpointing the location of the outage so quickly. Overall, the power was out just under an hour.
“When I woke up, I had power and I was thinking how grateful I was … that they got out in this storm that was so terrible. I appreciated how quickly they resolved it.”
The same storm caused another lightning strike close to Ted Pasche’s home in Argyle.
“I thought the lightning strike hit the house. I went up in the attic but there was no obvious damage,” he said. “That surge was so close it took out numerous circuits in our house.”
Ted called CoServ and was relieved to talk with someone local who was aware of the storms. The Customer Care Specialist advised him to check his meter, and he found it was working fine.
“They said, ‘We’re still going to send some people out to take a look just to confirm.’” Ted said.
Shortly after, two technicians showed up. After Inspection, it was determined that the power issue was not CoServ-related.
“We feel like a family with CoServ,” Ted said. “They’re local people so they understand the problems and issues that you’re going through. They’re not in some other state answering dispatch calls or Customer Service.”
