CoServ gas technicians are highly trained, safety-oriented and ready to respond to hit gas lines, install a new meter or upgrading the capacity of an existing line.

It’s a tough, dangerous job with long, unpredictable hours and full exposure to the elements. But it’s also an essential job that keeps our homes warm, our water heated, our swimming pools comfortable and our stove and oven ready for cooking.

That’s why it’s important to recognize CoServ Gas Technicians every day but especially on National Natural Gas Utility Workers’ Day on March 18.

“CoServ personnel work 24 hours a day, seven days a week and 365 days a year to ensure that our customers are safe and do not go without gas service,” said Rodney Hale, Director of Gas Operations. “The biggest reward for me is being part of delivering a safe and reliable energy solution to our Customers.”

On a cool December morning, CoServ Gas Technicians were busy installing a four-inch polyurethane line that will serve Stonebriar Centre Mall and surrounding businesses in Frisco. They removed the old two-inch service line and upgraded the regulator station so it can accommodate the larger line.

The gas techs rerouted gas from other pipelines so no Customers lost service while the work was going on. It’s similar to how CoServ linemen backfeed electricity to restore power while they make permanent repairs during a power outage or electrical upgrade.

CoServ Gas was founded in 1998 so it’s a modern system with state-of-the-art technology and infrastructure. It’s also unique in that it was founded out of an electric co-op so it carries the same values and mission our Members have known since 1937.

“We stay true to our core value of ‘excellence’ by constantly reviewing our processes, material and equipment we use to be as safe and reliable as possible,” Rodney said.
