If you can imagine it, Elizabeth Rowe can turn it into a cake.

She’s made everything from fantastic, larger-than-life superhero cakes to desserts that look so real you can’t tell if it’s a real-life item or made of fondant, flour and eggs.

In all, Elizabeth has starred in 10 Food Network baking competitions and has won her fair share of them.

But none were sweeter than winning against Duff Goldman on an episode of Super Mega Cakes. It was actually Duff’s show, Ace of Cakes, that inspired her to become a cake decorator when she moved to the United States.

“We’ve got parents who say they love watching these shows with their kids and their kids get inspired by me,” Elizabeth said. “So, I’m doing what Duff Goldman did for me when I moved here.”

The good news is, you don’t have to travel to Hollywood to try one of these magnificent cakes. The Essex-County, England native pours her heart into making cakes, pastries and more at her two The London Baker locations in Lewisville, seven days a week.

The London Baker opened its first location in 2018 in the Castle Hills area of Lewisville and then expanded with a location off the Sam Rayburn Tollway near Josey Lane.

Though she thrives in high stress baking competitions where the clock is ticking, her bakeries are designed to be a calm place where time stands still.

“It’s a hidden gem. People love to come here for relaxation. When you walk in, you feel like you’re somewhere different and you can leave your Texan troubles behind,” she said.

Elizabeth Rowe is known as the Stitch Queen for her incredibly realistic cakes

The small-batch bakery makes everything from scratch several times a day, including scones and cupcakes. Of course, there’s also tea and coffee. Then there’s the custom cakes. She’s flown cakes across the country for celebrities, including a Delorean time machine cake for Christopher Lloyd, star of the Back to the Future films, and a cake for Zayn Malik from One Direction.

“What we’re known for is how good the cakes taste and how good they look,” Elizabeth said. “Some places have either the artistry or the flavor. We have both.”

Elizabeth is also active in the community, helping schools raise money. For example, she let parents bid on a personal cake decorating lesson with her that included goodies and a chance to ask her anything.

“I love donating to the local schools. Everyone’s so kind and loving here,” Elizabeth said. “It’s part of the culture of Texans. I consider myself an adopted Texan and they do tend to love British culture.”
