Your Donations in Action: Lovepacs™ Feeds Children Over Spring Break

Spring Break is supposed to be carefree and fun, filled with memories that children will carry for a lifetime.
However, thousands of local children who rely on free and reduced breakfast and lunch at school might wonder where they will get their next meal.
Lovepacs™, a Texas nonprofit, has a mission to erase that worry. They partner with local school districts to provide boxes of food for students to take home during school holidays.
“Without services like Lovepacs, a lot of children would go hungry at home. Most of the kids come from food insecure families who rely on the breakfast and lunches they receive at school,” said Autumn Chavez, Executive Director of Lovepacs.
Lovepacs provided food for more than 10,000 students over spring break this year across the state.
Like most nonprofits, Lovepacs is seeing increased demand for food while donations are decreasing.

The CoServ Charitable Foundation (CCF) is a longtime partner of Lovepacs and has awarded more than $100,000 to the nonprofit over the years. The most recent CCF grant helped pay for food that went out for spring break in the Frisco, Little Elm and Lewisville school districts.
“It is a big misconception. People think there is no food insecurity in Frisco,” Autumn said. “You might not see it because food insecurity doesn’t always show itself in the ways you think it will.”
That’s what makes grants like this from the CCF so critical.
“We rely on the community and grants like this to be able to purchase food,” Autumn said. “These are our neighbors. Many families are having to make a decision between paying rent, mortgage and bills or buying food. It’s been a struggle to get the food that we need to go into the boxes.”
In turn, CCF relies on our generous Members and Customers who participate in Operation Roundup where their bill is rounded up to the nearest dollar to fund grants like this to help families in our community.
“At the CoServ Charitable Foundation, we wholeheartedly support Lovepacs in its mission to ensure children have access to easy-to-make meals when they aren’t at school,” said Jennifer Ebert, CCF and Outreach Coordinator. “Over the years, we’ve been proud to award multiple grants to Lovepacs, helping them continue their vital work.”
