The CoServ Charitable Foundation: Giving That Grows & Empowers
A milestone worth celebrating: Since its early days in 2005, the CoServ Charitable Foundation has surpassed $21 million in total grants — doubling its impact in less than a decade and strengthening communities across North Texas.
In the early 2000s, CoServ saw a growing need across North Texas—from families struggling to make ends meet, to teachers and first responders lacking critical resources. While CoServ remained focused on delivering reliable, affordable, and safe energy, Board members and Employees, recognized an opportunity to do more for their communities. That vision became reality in June 2004 with the launch of the CoServ Charitable Foundation (CCF). This timeline highlights key milestones from the CCF’s 22‑year journey of giving back.
“The CoServ Charitable Foundation gave us the chance to really make a difference in the communities we serve,” said Denise Smithers, Chief Experience Officer. “After more than two decades, we’ve become a critical part of the North Texas nonprofit ecosystem, putting food on the table, providing utility assistance, surprising teachers with grants and equipping fire and police departments with new gear.”
2004
CCF Created
The CoServ Charitable Foundation (CCF) was founded to make a difference and improve lives in North Texas and beyond through grants to nonprofit organizations and education foundations.
2005
Operation Roundup® (ORU) Implemented
Operation Roundup is the single most important driver of donations for CCF. CoServ Members and Customers round up their monthly bills to the nearest dollar, averaging about $6 per Member and Customer annually. Small change adds up to make a big difference!
CCF Golf Tournament Established
The CCF Golf Tournament was created to help raise additional funds for CCF. Since its inception, it has raised over $1.1 million in grants for nonprofit organizations, enabling us to make a larger impact.
2016
General Fund Implemented
The general fund was established to help serve more of our neighbors throughout North Texas. It is funded by the generosity of CoServ Employees, who donate via payroll deductions and CCF fundraisers, such as the golf tournament and clay shoot.
2018
CCF Clay Shoot
Due to the overwhelming success of the CCF Golf Tournament, the CCF Clay Shoot was established as an additional fundraising resource for the General Fund, enabling CCF to support more nonprofits outside our service area. Since its establishment, the Clay Shoot has raised over $300,000.
CCF Surpasses $10 million in Distributed Grants
Through the continued success of the CCF Golf Tournament and Clay Shoot, combined with the giving power of CoServ’s Members, Customers, and Employees, CCF surpassed giving over $10 million in grants.
2025
CCF Surpasses $20 million in Distributed Grants
2025 was a milestone year for CCF, as it surpassed giving over $20 million in grants, both from ORU and the General Fund. Thanks to the fast-paced growth in CoServ’s service area, bringing on thousands of new Members and Customers each year, combined with the overwhelming success of the CCF fundraisers and Employee donations, CCF doubled its contributions in less than a decade.
