VACATION MODE: On, Energy WASTE: OFF

This is the season for vacations!

Before you jet off to somewhere fun, take a few quick steps to prevent electricity waste and save some money on your next bill.

While you’re away,
turn your thermostat
up 7-10 degrees
(88 degrees Max)

Install a smart thermostat so
you can manage
the HVAC while
you’re away

Turn off
the lights,
or put them
on a timer

Lower your
water heater
by 10 to 20
degrees

Unplug electronics
or small appliances
to avoid the electricity vampires that could consume power while you’re away. Switch
surge protectors or
power strips off

If appliances
have a vacation
mode, use it

Close any
curtains, shades
or blinds to keep
the sun out

Keep ceiling
fans off
because they only cool people,
not empty rooms

Consume
perishable items
in the refrigerator
to allow for higher,
more efficient temperature
settings
