Weather Disconnection Policy
The comfort and safety of Members and Customers is a top priority for CoServ. During periods of extreme temperatures, we suspend our disconnection policy to ensure your well-being.
Spring / Summer Policy
Electric Service
CoServ will not disconnect electric service because of nonpayment on days that the National Weather Service (NWS) issues a heat advisory, or when such an advisory has been issued on the two preceding calendar days.
Gas Service
CoServ’s policy complies with Texas Administrative Code RULE §7.460. As such, CoServ is allowed to disconnect gas service because of nonpayment on days that the National Weather Service (NWS) issues a heat advisory. Once a year, we deliver a copy of this code to our gas customers.
Fall / Winter Policy
Electric & Gas Service
CoServ will not disconnect electric or gas service because of nonpayment during extended freezes. This applies when the preceding day’s high temperature did not exceed 32 degrees Fahrenheit, and that day’s high temperature is forecast to remain below freezing for 24 hours.
Our policy complies with Texas Administrative Code RULE §7.460, Suspension of Gas Utility Service Disconnection During an Extreme Weather Emergency, and once a year, we deliver to our gas customers a paper copy of this code.
The National Weather Service Dallas/Ft. Worth location is the official notification site for North Texas temperature data.
Notice to Customers
Every year, CoServ reminds its gas Customers of the rule regarding the suspension of gas utility service disconnection during an extreme weather emergency. This notice is included as an additional page with the November bill.
