Weather Report: April's mild temperatures should mean lower power bills


With average temperatures in the mid-60s, CoServ Members should expect April energy consumption to be about the same or less than last April.

Based on the temperatures, CoServ Members likely used the same or less air conditioning and heating in April 2021 than they did in the same period last year.

Looking back at the previous month, energy consumption will be slightly higher than March 2021 because the average high temperature was 3.2 degrees higher, resulting in more air condition usage. Overall, April had 10 days where the temperature got 80 degrees or higher.

But April also had some chilly days, including two nights where temperatures dipped below 40 degrees. The average temperature for April was 64.6 degrees and the average low temperature was 54.8 degrees.

April was also a wet month with 4.5 inches of rain, more than 1.4 inches above normal.
