Youth Leadership Tour

Are you a Texas high school junior? Would you like to travel, experience a big city and visit historic landmarks without spending a dime of your own money? Perhaps you'd like to meet your congressional representative, or maybe you're looking for an inspirational experience in the company of other Texas teens. If that sounds like you, the Government-in-Action Youth Tour trip to Washington, D.C., is your tour.

The 2025 Youth Leadership Tour application portal opened on Tuesday, August 20, 2024 at 8 a.m. The portal will close on Tuesday, October 15, 2024 at 5 p.m.

Youth Leadership Tour Requirements

In 2025, CoServ will award five North Texas high school juniors the trip of a lifetime. This all-expenses-paid trip includes tours of the state capital in Austin and the U.S. capital in Washington, DC. The winners will join more than 150 other youth from Texas electric cooperative homes to experience our government in action. 

ELIGIBILITY

  1. The student must have completed his/her junior year of high school by June.
  2. The student’s permanent residence must have an active CoServ Electric or CoServ Gas account.
  3. The student’s parent or guardian must have a CoServ account that is in good standing.
  4. Online application must be completed and submitted, including RETURNED REFERENCES by the closing date of the application.

Important Dates:

  • Tuesday, August 20, 2024: Applications open at 8 a.m.
  • Tuesday, October 15, 2024: Applications close at 5 p.m.
  • Monday, February 17, 2025 (Presidents Day): Orientation at CoServ Headquarters.**
  • June 15–22, 2025 Tour Dates
  • July 2025 CoServ Electric Board Meeting*: Follow-up Session with the CoServ Electric Board of Directors from 11 a.m.–1:30 p.m.**

*The date for the session with the Board of Directors is subject to change. **The orientation and follow-up sessions are both required.

MEDIA COVERAGE

Images and names of Youth Leadership Tour winners may be featured on CoServ's website, social media channels, in the CoServ pages of Texas Co-op Power magazine and shared with area and state news media. Winners must submit a recent photo of themselves (class photo preferred) and may also be asked to have their photos taken at CoServ.
