We have been serving North Texas since 1937 as an electric cooperative, and today we provide reliable electric and gas service across parts of seven North Texas counties. What to expect on your first bill

Waiting for your first bill to arrive when starting a new account can be stressful. We want to help you take the guesswork out by letting you know what you can expect.

  • When: In most cases your first bill will arrive within 30 days of account activation.
  • Where: Depending on the preferences you’ve selected, you will receive your bill via mail, email or both. 💡Not sure what you’ve selected? Be sure to signup for a SmartHub account and review or select your preferences!
  • What: Unless otherwise noted, your first statement will include all set-up fees and any deposits.




Membership Fee

The membership fee refund will be applied to your final bill once all active accounts are closed.


Connect Fee


$19.00 if gas is on at location

$65.00 if gas is off at location

Refundable Deposit*

A credit check will determine if your account requires a deposit.
If a deposit is required:

  • For electric service, deposits will not exceed one-sixth of your home’s annual electric bill or $300.
  • For gas service, deposits will not exceed one-sixth of your home’s annual gas bill or $60.

We will refund any deposits to your account after your account is closed or after we receive payment for 12 consecutive bills with no more than one late payment and zero disconnections for nonpayment.
